Julie Bosel

B Com, LL B (Hons) (JCU)

Growing up in regional Queensland in a family that ran a small business, Julie brings a real-world understanding to her role as a Principal at Peters Bosel Lawyers.

Julie has close to 20 years of experience in employment law and commercial litigation matters include providing advice to both employers and employees in areas such as industrial relations, workplace health and safety, and strategic human resource management.

Her expertise includes drafting certified and enterprise agreements as well as contracts of employment and advocating for clients in state and federal courts and commissions, including the Federal Court, Federal Circuit Court, Queensland Industrial Relations Commission, the Fair Work Commission, the Queensland Human Rights Commission and the Australian Human Rights Commission.

After graduating from James Cook University, Julie has worked in her chosen field since 1999, leading the employment and workplace relations team as a partner at MacDonnells Law before joining Mark Peters to establish Peters Bosel Lawyers in July 2011.

While Julie’s work often focuses on workplace issues within local government, she also regularly assists clients in the corporate, not-for-profit and tourism sectors. A call to Peters Bosel for guidance on an employment matter will generally result in an initial conversation with herself or Mark before a follow-up appointment to further assess next steps towards the best strategic outcome for a client.

“One thing I pride myself on is being able to ‘cut through the noise’,” says Julie. “Often in employment matters, there is a lot of emotion involved. Being able to isolate the issues, and then being commercial and pragmatic in my approach to address it, is the best thing I can offer a client in often challenging and urgent situations.”
